What Bad Drainage Does to a Parking Structure
Ponding water never stops working. Standing water sits on the deck long after the storm, soaking into the concrete and the coating around the clock. It’s the single biggest cause of premature parking deck failure in NJ — and it’s almost always a drainage and slope problem.
Salt makes it far worse. Road salt rides in on every car all winter. When that salt-laden water ponds instead of draining, the chlorides drive deep into the concrete, attack the steel reinforcement, and accelerate spalling across the whole deck.
